Current affairs seen by Elie B.

In the end of the meeting, we can ask to Elie our questions. Let’s talk about current affairs...

He thinks teenagers are very important, because they are the future of the world. He said that many times, and we listened him with attention. We must never forget what happened during the Holocaust. “If we forget, everything can start again”

Then he speaks about islamophobia, because it’s like antisemitism of Nazis during the World War II. He denounces religious extremism too. He hopes the horror that he lived will never start again.

Elie doesn’t practice Judaism, but envy people who have a religion, because they have something to cling to in life.

He is filled by a duty of memory that he considers like primordial. It’s important for him the fact teenagers become “witnesses of witnesses”. So, he has done since a few years many visits in college or during commemorations, to tell his history: a fourteen teenager’s history who lived the Shoah. “You must never accept to be excluded” he insists. I’s also important to know how to forgive: himself knows that today’s Germany is not the same than yesterday. He doesn’t hold grudge against the Germans.
